Ashley Lakin, MS, LDN, CNS, RYT-200
Through my own personal health journey, I’ve seen the ways in which conventional nutrition care can miss out on some major underlying factors that determine one’s health. Even at a young age, I knew that there was more to wellness than simply following the food pyramid.
After completing my Bachelor’s of Science in Dietetics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I focused my attention on pursuing a more holistic approach to nutrition. I have earned a culinary certificate from the Natural Gourmet Institute in New York and a Master’s of Science in Integrative Nutrition with a concentration in herbal medicine from the Maryland University of Integrative Health.
I am especially passionate about working with individuals through all phases of life to address hormonal concerns, such as infertility, menopause, PCOS, endometriosis, or postpartum mood disorders.
As a Certified Nutrition Specialist® and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist, I use my blended education to address the root cause of your symptoms from various angles. I focus on utilizing whole foods, not just nutrients, to heal the body. The body is an amazing, intelligent system, and I am time and time again amazed how optimizing nutrition, stress management skills, and mindful movement allows the body to get back into balance.
My Approach
My goal is to empower my clients to better understand their bodies and feel in control of their own wellness!
Our work together will begin with a 75 minute comprehensive intake appointment. During this appointment, we will discuss your health history, current concerns, dietary habits, and lifestyle factors. This session will also include a dietary analysis of a three day food diary and a nutrition-focused physical exam to look for areas in need of nutritional support. If you have had any lab work done within 6 months of your intake appointment, please provide me with those results prior to this appointment.
After your intake appointment, the real work begins! I will create a clinical game plan to best address any physiological imbalances and help you reach your health goals. We will meet for a follow-up to discuss dietary, lifestyle, and supplement recommendations. The frequency of follow-ups needed will be greatly dependent on each client’s unique needs.
Promoting a holistic and inclusive healthcare model is a priority to me. My practice follows a Healthy At Every Size® approach and is LGBTQIA+ friendly, so you will always be welcome and supported through our work together.
Between appointments, you will always have email access to me- I am here to support you every step of the way!
